Glendale Water & Power (GWP) has been awarded the Smart Energy Provider (SEP) designation by the American Public Power Association, recognizing GWP’s dedication to energy efficiency, distributed generation, and environmental initiatives. This three-year designation celebrates public utilities that are not only committed to reliable, low-cost, and sustainable energy services but are also forward-thinking in their approach.
Achieving this status requires public utilities to excel in four primary areas: smart energy program structure, energy efficiency and distributed energy resources, environmental and sustainability initiatives, and customer experience. GWP now stands among over 100 public power utilities, out of the 2,000 across the country, to have earned this distinction.
GWP’s Interim General Manager, Manuel Robledo, emphasized the utility’s focus on community impact: “The SEP designation represents GWP’s commitment to offering programs that help our customers save money, reduce our collective environmental impact, and support our community’s responsible energy use. We are very proud to be recognized as a utility at the forefront of smart energy best practices.”
