GLENDALE, CA – Calling all performance groups! Applications are now open for the Jewel City Concert Series and the Brand Summer Music Series, welcoming music ensembles of three or more members. To apply, interested musicians can visit https://www.glendaleartsandculture.org/performanceseries. The application period runs from November 27, 2023, at 10:00 am, to January 26, 2024, at 5:00 pm.
The Jewel City Concert Series is a lively outdoor music event held in the fall on the Artsakh Paseo in Glendale’s Downtown Arts & Entertainment District. Performances are scheduled for Saturdays in October, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, requiring one set lasting 60 minutes. Performance groups selected will receive a stipend of up to $1,200 per performance. The Paseo is conveniently located near Brand Boulevard, The Americana, and Glendale Galleria, drawing a diverse audience of shoppers and visitors to local businesses. This series is made possible with the support of the City of Glendale and the Glendale Arts and Culture Commission, funded by the Urban Art Program.
The Brand Summer Music Series, held in an outdoor setting on the hillside behind the Brand Library & Art Center, is also open for applications. Performances are slated for Fridays from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm, featuring one set lasting 90 minutes. Selected performance groups will be compensated with a stipend of up to $1,700 per performance. Attendees often bring their own chairs and picnic supplies, enjoying the music on the grassy hill near the performance area. The Brand Library Plaza Series, established in 2014, is supported by the Glendale Arts and Culture Commission, with funding from the Urban Art Program and collaboration from Glendale Library, Arts & Culture, Glendale Community Services and Parks, and the Brand Associates.
