On September 12, Glendale Police Captain Robert William successfully completed the 291st session of the FBI National Academy, with a graduation ceremony held at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Accompanying him at the event were Glendale Police Chief Manny Cid, Deputy Chief Andrew Jenks, and Captain Rafael Quintero.
Chief Cid, also an alumnus of the FBI National Academy, praised Captain William’s achievement, stating, “Captain William’s accomplishment is a testament to the excellent leadership he has provided our department for more than 20 years. The Glendale Police Department is proud to support Captain William in maximizing his potential and enhancing his capacity to protect the Glendale community.”
The 10-week program, spanning from July to September, offered participants advanced leadership training, communication courses, and rigorous fitness challenges. FBI instructors, special agents, and specialized support teams – many with international recognition in various fields of criminology – led the training sessions.
Graduates of the FBI National Academy often have over two decades of experience in law enforcement and are typically positioned in executive roles within their respective agencies upon returning. Selection into the program requires a demonstrated track record of professionalism and leadership within their departments.
Captain William, a veteran with 21 years of service at the Glendale Police Department, currently holds the position of Support Services Captain. His responsibilities include overseeing the Traffic Bureau, Community Outreach Resources & Engagement (C.O.R.E.) Bureau, and Specialized Services, such as air support, K9 units, the Special Enforcement Detail (S.E.D.), SWAT, and the Crisis Negotiation Team.
Throughout his career, Captain William has held various roles, steadily advancing through the ranks. Notably, he became the first Armenian-American Police Captain in the history of the Glendale Police Department. His extensive law enforcement experience includes work in Patrol, the Detective Bureau, S.E.D., and the SWAT team.
