Following a two-month investigation, Glendale Police Detectives have arrested Jesus Cain Medina Leyva, 28, of Glendale, on multiple charges related to identity theft and elder financial abuse. On Thursday, October 17, 2024, Medina Leyva was apprehended after detectives connected him to a scheme that allegedly targeted elderly residents of a nursing facility on the 400 block of East Cypress Street in Glendale.
The case began on August 28, 2024, when Glendale Police received reports from an elderly patient stating that her credit cards had been stolen from her room. As Financial Crimes Detectives pursued the investigation, they uncovered six additional victims from the same nursing facility. Through detailed investigative work, detectives identified Medina Leyva, an employee at the facility, as the suspect responsible for stealing credit cards from residents’ rooms and using them at various stores and restaurants.
Medina Leyva now faces seven counts of identity theft and elder financial abuse.
