Glendale Water & Power (GWP) is excited to present the annual student art exhibit from July 24 to August 6, 2024, at the Glendale City Hall lobby. This exhibit features award-winning artwork from The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California’s (MWD) 26 member agencies across its six-county service area, highlighting the creativity and environmental awareness of young artists with the theme “Being Waterwise Is…”.
MWD conducts the “Being Waterwise Is…” student art contest annually as part of its educational outreach through local water agencies. This contest encourages students to create artwork promoting water conservation and the protection of our vital water resources. Winning entries are featured in an annual calendar and become part of a traveling art exhibit, spreading awareness and inspiration across communities.
Out of over 2,000 entries, 37 outstanding pieces have been selected for display during normal business hours at the Glendale City Hall lobby. This exhibit provides a platform for these young artists to convey their messages of sustainability, water efficiency, and conservation to the public before moving to another MWD member agency. Notably, two talented students from Glendale’s service area have been recognized for their exceptional contributions:
- Sophia Doh, 3rd Grade Student from Monte Vista Elementary School
- Hayoon Lee, 5th Grade Student from Fremont Elementary School
Residents and visitors are invited to view these inspiring artworks at Glendale City Hall, located at 613 E. Broadway, Glendale, CA 91206. City Hall is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, and on Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Join to celebrate the creativity of the youth and their dedication to water conservation.
