Fatal Semi-Truck Crash Causes Freeway Closure in Glendale

A fatal collision involving a semi-truck resulted in the closure of multiple lanes on the 134 Freeway in Glendale on Tuesday morning.

Reported initially around 5 a.m., the crash occurred on the westbound stretch of the 134 Freeway near Glendale Avenue. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that the other vehicle involved was a white Honda.

Following the incident, a SigAlert was issued, initially scheduled to conclude by 7:30 a.m. However, due to the confirmed fatality of the Honda driver, the alert was extended for at least an additional hour.

Footage captured the scene, illustrating commuters maneuvering past the crash site in the far right lane, causing significant delays for those traveling towards Glendale. The congestion stretched as far as Eagle Rock, exacerbating travel times.

An official mentioned, “It is believed that the deceased individual remains within the vehicle involved on the westbound side of the 134.” Traffic conditions were described as congested, extending into Eagle Rock.

Motorists were advised to consider alternative routes, such as utilizing Colorado Street to access the 5 Freeway or opting for the 210 Freeway. Those traveling north on the 2 Freeway were also encouraged to avoid the interchange with the 134 Freeway.

As of now, no details regarding the victim’s identity have been disclosed.
