Armenian American Museum Honors Michael A. Goorjian at Horizon Gala

The Armenian American Museum and Cultural Center of California has revealed that the upcoming Horizon Gala, slated to take place at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown on Saturday, May 11, will honor director, writer, and actor Michael A. Goorjian.

Executive Chairman Berdj Karapetian expressed admiration for Goorjian’s depiction of the Armenian people and their homeland in his work on “Amerikatsi,” noting his significant contributions to film and television. Karapetian stated, “We look forward to honoring Michael A. Goorjian with the Horizon Award at the Armenian American Museum Gala.”

Goorjian, an accomplished Armenian American figure, embarked on his acting journey at the age of 14 in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has appeared in numerous films and television series, including notable roles in “Leaving Las Vegas,” “SLC Punk,” “Party of Five,” and “Illusion.” He garnered an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Special for his performance in the TV movie “David’s Mother.”

Most recently, Goorjian earned acclaim for his multifaceted role in “Amerikatsi” as director, writer, and lead actor. The film, renowned for its spirit and optimism, portrays Charlie’s return to his Armenian homeland under Soviet rule. Notably, “Amerikatsi” made history for Armenia by being shortlisted for the Oscars’ Best International Film category as the nation’s official submission.

The Horizon Gala marks a significant milestone for the cultural and educational center, currently under construction, as it reaches new heights. Sponsorship opportunities, program book ads, and ticket reservations for the event are required by April 30.
