Dominant Performances in Girls’ Lacrosse: Crescenta Valley and Glendale Shine

Crescenta Valley High School’s varsity girls’ lacrosse team showcased an impressive performance, securing a 16-12 victory against West Ranch High in Valencia on March 5. Junior Camden Ballard led the charge with an outstanding display, scoring eight goals and providing three assists, setting a new single-game school record with a total of 11 points. Junior Sophia Lima also made significant contributions, netting five goals. Other notable performances came from junior Kaily Kim, who recorded one goal and one assist, and juniors Kylie Atzert, Hannah Yi, and Ashley Giboney, each scoring one goal.

In their Rose Bowl Jamboree finale on March 2, the Falcons faced a tough loss against Redondo Union High, with a final score of 10-4. Despite the defeat, contributions came from sophomore Caroline Fox, Kim, Ballard, and Lima, who each scored one goal.

Earlier in the tournament, Crescenta Valley secured an 8-3 victory against Northwood High on March 2, with Ballard leading the team with four goals and one assist. Lima and Yi each contributed one goal and one assist, while sophomore Julia Marriott and Kim chipped in with one goal each.

Opening the tournament with a strong performance, the Falcons triumphed over Royal High with a score of 10-6. Ballard, Lima, and Kim played pivotal roles, with Ballard recording four goals and four assists, Lima netting four goals and one assist, and Kim tallying two goals and one assist.

In a nonleague game against Mira Costa High on March 1, the Falcons faced a challenging match, resulting in a 16-3 loss. Despite the setback, Ballard and Lima showcased their skills, with Ballard contributing two goals and one assist, and Lima providing two assists and one goal.

Looking ahead, the Falcons, with an overall record of 8-2, are set to face Marlborough High for their Mission League opener on March 12, followed by a home game against Village Christian High on March 27.

In other lacrosse news, the Glendale Nitros competed in the Rose Bowl Jamboree on March 2, finishing with an impressive 3-0 record. They secured wins against Canyon High, Palisades High, and El Segundo, with individual statistics not reported.

The Nitros, with a record of 6-2, are scheduled to play Westridge School in Pasadena on March 11, followed by an away game against Lynwood on March 12.
