Body Discovered in Glendale Residence Following Suspect’s Surrender

A grim discovery unfolded Wednesday evening as law enforcement responded to a residence on Reta Street, where a body was found. The incident led to the apprehension of a suspect, who surrendered after a prolonged standoff, authorities reported.

The sequence of events began around 2:15 p.m. when Glendale police received a distressing call regarding an assault with a deadly weapon at a residence in the 3300 block of Reta Street. Upon arrival, officers uncovered evidence suggesting an assault had taken place, yet both the suspect and the victim were nowhere to be found. In response, nearby schools were briefly placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure.

Subsequently, a specialized SWAT team and crisis negotiation unit were dispatched to the scene as the suspect barricaded themselves within the residence. After an extended standoff, the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Vahan Keshishyan of La Crescenta, ultimately surrendered to authorities. Keshishyan, barefoot and shirtless, was promptly taken into custody by SWAT personnel.

Following Keshishyan’s apprehension, law enforcement entered the residence and made the grim discovery of the victim, who was pronounced dead from undisclosed injuries, according to a statement issued by Glendale police.

Keshishyan faces charges of murder as the investigation continues to unravel the relationship between him and the deceased. The identity of the victim has been withheld pending notification of their next of kin.

The investigation prompted the closure of Reta Street for several hours as law enforcement meticulously processed the scene for evidence and conducted interviews with witnesses.
