Glendale Police Arrest Man for Threatening His Family with a Knife

On April 22, 2024, at approximately 10 a.m., Glendale Police Department Communications received a report of a man wielding a knife in the 300 block of Harvey Dr. Upon arrival, Glendale Police Officers discovered that the individual, identified as Oscar Urenda, 31, of Pacoima, had been making threats against his family with the knife. Once the family members were safely relocated away from the suspect, Urenda barricaded himself inside a vehicle.

In response, the Glendale Police Department dispatched their Crisis Negotiations and SWAT Teams to the scene. Negotiations commenced, and after approximately one hour, the suspect surrendered to officers without incident and was safely taken into custody.

Oscar Urenda was subsequently arrested for brandishing a knife in a threatening manner toward his family members. Following his arrest, Urenda was transported to a medical facility for a psychiatric evaluation.
