Glendale’s Solar and Energy Storage Adoption Plan

Glendale Water and Power is currently developing a solar and energy storage adoption plan aimed at maximizing the use of renewable energy within the City of Glendale. The plan sets a target of having at least 10% of customers adopt solar and energy storage systems by December 31, 2027.

To gather valuable insights and feedback from the community, a series of community meetings will be held. Below are the details:

Community Meeting Schedule:

The solar and energy storage plan will evaluate adoption potential and consider various policies and incentives to achieve the adoption and capacity goals, including:

  • The feasibility of achieving the City Council’s goals
  • Net metering policies
  • Feed-in tariff program
  • Upfront incentives or rebates on solar installations
  • Upfront rebates combined with performance-based incentives for battery storage systems
  • Policies aimed at lower-income customers, heavily pollution-burdened areas, multifamily properties, and rental properties
  • Community solar projects
  • Additionally, the plan will analyze the benefits and costs, including economic, environmental, societal, and other factors.
