There are a number of fires in the region – Ventura, Sylmar and Santa Clarita. As a precaution, Chief Greg Fish has staffed up the Glendale Fire Department should the need arise.
Currently the fire is above Oro Vista Dr. / above Sunland. LA City is making evacuations in those areas in the hillside communities.
The 210 freeway through Glendale is closed. If traveling north from Glendale on the 2 freeway, you will be diverted eastbound 210. If traveling west on 210 from La Canada, you will be diverted south on the 2 freeway.

The winds have pushed fires great distances in a very short period of time. If you have family that live in the area, make sure they are prepared.
As time goes on – and should the fire move in Glendale’s direction, family and friends will not be able to enter the area to assist others in an evacuation.
Staff from Public Works and GWP are continuing to work around the clock due to wind related issues in Glendale.
